Beans and Gas

You know that old nursery rhyme about beans and gas? "Beans beans the musical fruit, the more you eat, the more you toot. The more you toot, the better you feel, so eat beans at every meal!" I'm sure it was written by the meat industry! :-)

Beans have been a staple of the human diet throughout the ages. The humble bean is a high protein food, and a vegetarian nutrition powerhouse. And most people in the world eat them every day. So either they don't have a beans & gas problem, or they don't care.

Beans & lentils are high fiber foods and fiber is a broom which cleans out accummulated junk from the digestive tract. So if you've been eating an unhealthy diet, and aren't used to beans, at first there may be some gas.

But contrary to popular myth, the more you eat beans and lentils, the LESS you toot! Legumes are actually easy to digest, when they're cooked right, and eaten regularly.

And another thing: Beans aren't the only cause of gas. Dairy, eggs, onions & garlic, the cabbage family, dried fruit, nuts - and let's not forget meat - are equally responsible.

So forget what you've heard or experienced about beans and gas. We'll show you how to cook beans without gas, in a crockpot, pressure cooker, or on the stovetop. And right here on this page are many delicious ways to eat them!
