Cooking Corn on the Cob

Two Ways To Delicious Corn On The Cob: Grilled or Boiled

Grilling corn on the cob or making boiled corn on the cob is quick, simple and rewarding. Nothing beats biting into those fresh, juicy, flavorful kernels!

Corn On The Cob

Corn on the cob needs only a generous dab of butter or veggie spread & a sprinkle of salt to be melt-in-your-mouth perfect.

Cooking Tips: The secret to tender, sweet corn on the cob is getting the freshest corn possible. Buy corn on the cob unhusked and husk it yourself. Get it at the farmers market, or a parking lot vendor, or anybody who picked it fresh this morning.

Another secret is, don't overcook your corn on the cob! And don't add salt to the cooking water - that will make your corn tough! Add salt at the table if you want it.

All you need for this recipe are 1 - 2 ears of corn per person, a big wide pot of boiling water or a grill, and plenty of napkins!

Grilling Corn On The Cob:

  1. Remove loose outer leaves, leaving inner corn husks for protection
  2. Soak corn for 30 minutes in cold water
  3. While the corn soaks prepare the grill - you'll want the heat to be at medium/low
  4. Drain the corn and shake off any excess water
  5. Place the corn on the grill, and cover with aluminum foil
  6. Cook for 15-20 minutes turning the corn 2-3 times
  7. Remove charred husk and silk and rinse off any remaining ashes
  8. Serve with vegan buttery spread and salt and enjoy!

Directions For Boiled Corn On The Cob:

  1. Remove husks and silk
  2. Bring a large pot of water to a boil
  3. Place corn in water and bring it back to a boil
  4. Turn the heat down to simmer and cover pot with lid
  5. Cook corn on low for 5 - 10 minutes until tender. The cob should still be firm and crunchy, not bendy
  6. Drain water and serve corn with vegan butter spread and salt
